Can you believe that Abby was TWO weeks old yesterday?!?! All the posting on this blog has been from Josh (quite the proud Daddy! It's too cute to me!), and I felt the need to do some posting of my own. I've almost made it through a full week by myself with Abby, and obviously this has left me with so much time to think and just stare at my sweet baby girl.
1. Like I've heard said many, many times before--being a mom is hard work! Granted, I don't have to leave the house to go to a job, but my job here is around the clock. It really is amazing that your body can adapt to losing the amount of sleep we do. I seriously was concerned for myself about that, but last night I had no problem being awake from 2am-5am.
2. Staring at Abby's face is one of my favorite things to do! After a feeding, I laugh almost every time. She makes the most hilarious facial expressions. She's in milk heaven! She smiles and about 2 seconds later her bottom lip rolls down like she's about to cry. It's just a part of her sleep cycle, but it's SO fun to watch.
3. I'm still in shock that Josh and I have a child. God created this perfect little angel just for us, and I don't think I could ever be ANY more thankful!! Abby is such a blessing, and just in these 2 weeks since Abby arrived Josh and I have changed. We don't just lounge about in the evening only thinking of ourselves--we do laundry, we wash bottles, we comfort a crying baby, we empty the dishwasher....all the "house chores" we used to just put off..and put off..and put off. But now, we're full blown adults (ha!) Scary, I know!
4. You never realize how much you love and need "adult" human interaction until you're home all day long with a newborn. I'm very glad I have this opportunity to stay home with Abby, but I'm also very much looking forward to getting out and about with her! I will say, she enjoys car rides, and always falls asleep. Also, I have the most AMAZING friends who have called to check on me, visited, and comforted me on some of those "crazy" days!
5. I hate that she really HATES her baths right now. Josh and I can barely hear one another because she's so loud. Hopefully, as time goes on, this bath routine will become more pleasant for her--along with diaper changes. It's not so bad that I have a modest little girl on my hands!
6. How can something so small be sooooo smelly?!?!? It's hilarious when Josh changes her dirty diapers because you hear him back in her room saying "OH GIRL, I know you must be my daughter with stinky pants like that!"
7. Finally, the love you feel for your child the SECOND they are born is unexplainable. Abby has only been here a few weeks, but it feels like the love I have for her multiplies everyday! She's so darn cute and snuggly!
Here are some pictures I've snapped recently.
Abby wide awake in her swing
Totally relaxed! (Enjoying that milk heaven!)

Tummy time!

Wide Awake in her bouncer...watching me wash her bottles!

Mid-yawn..such a tough life she leads :-)
