Sad day.

This morning I made a Dr. appt. for Abby. The past few days she's been really, really congested and sneezing like crazy. I've been giving her things that have worked in the past, but it seemed as though it was still getting a bit worse. Then last night it started....the cough. That yucky, barking cough. I pretty much knew what it was, but the Dr. confirmed it. Croup. Poor little baby girl!

It sounds so awful out of her little body. The Dr. gave us a steroid shot that he felt would "cool down" the symptoms quicker than normal. Truthfully, she's in a great mood. A little fussy at times, but can you blame her? She's still very smiley and plays. She's never been much on cuddling, but these past few days she has more than ever I think. He said this congestion and cough will probably be gone in 2-3 days, which will be wonderful!

Inspite of Abby not feeling well, she allowed me to take a few pictures and a real quick video yesterday. My goal is to get her all dolled up in her Christmas dress and get some sweet pictures by the tree. I hate doing it when her eyes are red-rimmed and watery from being sick. So, hopefully next week we'll do that!
Here are some pictures from the past couple of days--

In her Sunday attire (I know the lighting is bad)...I like this picture because her hair is seeming to have all the more of a reddish tint to it (crazy!)...Looking at tree...Finally able to get her to look at me (those lights on the tree are fascinating! ours even twinkle.)

This video is of me teasing her with her pacifier (I'm such a mean mommy!)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Here are a few pictures for those that have never seen our house at Christmas. We got it all set up on Monday.

Can you believe it?

I haven't posted in almost TEN days! That's ridiculous, isn't it? Forgive me. I'm sure ya'll all know about this crazy, most fun, and BUSY time of year.

We have a lot to catch up on here in the life of Miss Abby. First and foremost, she's eating solids! She had her 6th month check-up on the 15th, and she still remains in the 75th percentile for both height and weight. She's growing like a weed, and she's so tough. She didn't cry for the first 2 shots, but by the 3rd one, she did. But she calmed down in no time! What a trooper!

Abby first started off eating rice cereal (the video shows this experience) that she didn't seem to enjoy too much. I sure got a kick out of it, though. I didn't realize how loudly I was "cackling" until I watched it. She gives us the most hilarious expressions, so I can't help but laugh! We've now moved on to green beans, sweet potatoes (she's a fan of both veggies so far), and we've switched rice cereal to oatmeal--which she seems to like more. Tomorrow morning I plan to do a fruit, so she can begin to have some fruit in the morning. Of course, like most babies, she didn't open her mouth much in the beginning. She's starting to more now, and she has to stick her tongue out, too. It's so funny!
More happy by the end of it!

Last weekend at church Abby wore panty hose for the first time! It was so darn cute! I dressed her all up, and as she usually does--she gave me some hilarious expressions. I'm just loving this dress.I think she's saying, "I mean c'mon...y'know I'm cute."Whistling...She still loves her Excersaucer, and I just love this picture of her in it...Looks like she's ready to crawl... Y'know when you sleep really hard, and when you wake up you have all those lines over your face? Well, Abby woke up from a nap one day, and she must've slept really hard. One side of her face was covered with lines, and I had to take pictures of it...One day I found her napping like this--the feet crossed is too cute...Ever since Abby noticed her hands, she's always been a big fan of them. She went through a period where she was really looking at them, then it kinda died off. She always seemed to look more at the insides of her hands. But now, she's infatuated with the outside of her hands. When she looks at them, it's as if she's thinking "I need to get my nails done." It's funny (Are you beginning to see a trend here? I regularly think she's funny!)Abby also had her very first Thanksgiving. Josh, Abby, Sandy, and I all went to Louisiana on Tuesday afternoon, and we just got back today (Saturday). It was a wonderful visit. On Thanksgiving day, we were with my parents in the morning, we traveled to Martin to visit with Josh's family, then back to my parents in the evening. Abby was able to meet several people on Josh's side she'd never seen before. That was really exciting! More pictures are on my mom's camera, but I just made sure to get a few pictures in this outfit. She's so sweet! We hope everyone had a very blessed Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for all our family and friends, and we hope each and everyone's day was filled with happy memories!

Baby Blue...

IS the color of her eyes. Baby blue, like the Colorado skies. OK, OK....I definitely don't want to finish that song! When I was still pregnant, we had this thing at our church called Baby Days (or maybe it's Baby Daze?!? I don't know, I just go!), and basically it's a huge "garage sale." I found several cute little outfits for Abby for $2 or less. I just put one on her yesterday because it was short sleeves and shorts, and it was 85+ here. As of this morning it's 55. We have to dress a bit more warmly today!

When she's in blue, I just think it totally makes her eyes all the more blue. I LOVE it! (In about a 3 min. stretch, Abby gave me this many different expressions. She cracks me up!)

First, the eyes...

Looking out the window...These 2 pictures seem to be saying "Oh, Hi mom!" (Obviously one is from a different day)You talkin' to me? (In a Robert De Niro voice, of course!)When I say "mamama or dadada" she always smiles so big!Hmmmm...Her new thing--leaning her head far to the side...Sittin' pretty...This photo shoot is so tiring!

Our 6 month angel

So here we already are at 6 months of age. HALF A YEAR people! Wow! I seriously can't believe that I'm one of those people saying, "She's growing up so fast!" But it's absolutely true. I really am shocked how fast these 6 months have flown by. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE where we are now, though. Abby is so fun, cute, silly, sweet, precious, adorable, huggable, kissable, and utterly amazing! I could kiss her cheeks off!!!! (and I usually do!)

She's beginning to sit up on her own. She doesn't have it totally mastered yet, but I think she's really close! I've been able to catch some sweet pictures though. Before posting those, have a look at this.

Family Pictures

So it's been quite some time since these family pictures were taken. Josh has a friend that's practicing photography, and we thought it would be fun to get some family pictures. Abby is SO much more smiley now, but y'know--I still wanted pictures! These were from August (which isn't THAT long ago, but in the life of a baby who is only 6 months old, 3 months ago IS a big deal!)

I wanted outdoor pictures because, well, I just LOVE outdoor pictures. Yes, I wanted OUTDOOR pictures, in TEXAS, in AUGUST. What was I thinking? We started around 6:45pm...again, what was I thinking? I have a 3 1/2 month old, trying to take pictures about an hour and half before she goes to bed (and to put "sweating like a pig" nicely, we were "glistening".) And you can totally tell, she wasn't thrilled with the idea of getting her picture taken. However, on the plus side, Josh and I got some cute pictures together that I'm totally loving. (I know the first picture is just her sweet hand, but I always want to remember how little her fingers were--they are so precious!)
My cute parentsAnd this video clip just because I think she's so cute (Seriously, there isn't a lot to this video; I just love, love, love how she stares at me! I just know she thinks I'm so weird, but she's right!)
