Happy Birthday SANDY!

Sweet Sandy turned 42 today (in dogs years). It is crazy to think that six years ago our little puppy was being born. She stayed with her dog mom until about 8 weeks old when we got her the August between our sophomore and junior year of college. Amy was in Bossier for the summer and I was in Ruston. I called and told her that I saw an ad in the paper for dachshunds and that I was just going to go "look" at them. When I got there 3 puppies were left and this is how I picked Sandy. One puppy ran up and bit my shoe (to hyper). Another puppy wouldn't leave her mom's side (to lazy or shy). Sandy was in between - she kinda walked over to me and licked me so I went with the middle temperament. She has been the greatest little member of our family and makes us laugh every day. We like to say she is just an angel in puppy dog pajamas.

Here are some baby pictures (check out those big ears): Here are some of my favorite pics of Sandy:
Modeling her sweater vest

Enjoying the Houston heat
Sleeping with rigamortas (sp?)
So you are probably wondering how Sandy celebrated her big day.

Well I will let her tell you all about it.
Waiting for Dad to come get me this morning Playing with Abby's toys

Getting some sun this morning
Gray hair? Ain't no gray in this face!
Dad then went to play golf and I rested up for my evening adventure.

Going for a ride to my favorite store - PETCO. Picking out my birthday treats
I told Dad I needed this sign, but he wouldn't get it for me
but he did get me this cute harness so I could go on Abby's wagon rides and not choke myself
Eating dinner - I got a morning cup of food because it was my special day
Waiting for my birthday cookies
Eating my cookies while Dad sings to me

After all that food I was tired so Dad took me for a wagon ride

Abby's Day Part 4 - That's a Wrap!

After a big 'ol party, Abby definitely needed a good 'ol nap! She took almost a 3 hour nap that afternoon! She was tuckered from all her festivities.

Then it was time for dinner. We headed to our favorite place--Tin Roof.

They have a live band every Friday and Saturday evening, so Josh asked if they would sing Abby "Happy Birthday!" She loved it! She clapped and did her little arm thing. It was so cute!
She was too into the band to look at the camera!
After dinner, there was still time left in Abby's day...so we had to do something else fun with her to end out her first year of life. So....we headed to the pool!

This was priceless--who knows what they're both looking at, but they have the same "o" face. Love it!
The big boys playing...the cannonball and the toothpick, of course!
Mommy and Daddy swim time with Abby! Laughing and playing with Aunt Lisa
These next 3 pictures crack me up! Are we related or are we related?

Finally, we ended out a REALLY fun-filled weekend with Mother's Day. We went to church that morning, then out to eat, then it was time for all the family to go home. When Abby woke up from her nap that afternoon she looked past me because she was SO used to seeing about 3 or 4 people when she woke up all the other days. I had to tell her she was stuck with just me and daddy now :-)

Here are some pictures from Mother's Day.

I'm so thankful for this little girl. She is seriously the most wonderful gift I could've ever imagined! My mom gave me a sweet book for Mother's Day, and I read this quote that has really stuck with me.

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.
