Yeah, so this anniversary weekend took place in April. I know it’s almost the end of May. You people know me by now :)
This whole shabang was a surprise! I had NO idea what I was doing for the whole weekend. Funny story: My parents arrived on Thursday evening. Josh had already told me he wanted to go to Tin Roof the night before, and I completely thought nothing of it because we love that place and we always go often. He came home from work this day though, so chipper! He NEVER comes home this chipper, seriously. So we’re in the car, and he’s all smiles, and no lie, I say “Did you get a raise at work or something today because you are in the best mood.” He just laughed and said he didn’t, and he was just glad to be married to me! haha I’m so sure! We get to Tin Roof, and we’re walking up the ramp, and there is this woman sitting a table with her camera up, taking a picture. I’m seriously about to lean back and tell Josh, that lady reminds me of my mom! Then I was like…wait a minute—THAT IS MY MOM! What the heck? My parents already told me they were going to be out of town in Arkansas. I start asking all these questions of things I thought, but there had been a whole lot of stories told along the way…
For instance one story goes like this: I had REALLY wanted to go to Disney on Ice with Abby for a birthday present for her. Except Josh told me they were sold out. Then my friend Kelly at one of our playdates told me, they weren’t sold out. So I called Josh ASAP “Josh, Kelly says there’s tickets left. Can we please go?” We’re working from a strict budget these days, so I didn’t want to dip into things when we had been doing so good. He said he would check it out. In the mean time, he got in touch with Kelly’s husband, Eric, to get Kelly’s number, so he could call her and tell her that he didn’t want me to know that, and if Kelly could come up with something to tell me. Kelly then texts me later saying “We just got an e-mail from TicketMaster stating they actually are out of tickets, and they had a malfunction of the system.” haha OK. That’s believable enough to me, or maybe I’m just that naive. But for Josh’s sake, good thing I am!!
Abby adored Disney on Ice, just like I thought she would. She was in love with the Princess part and seriously belted out the words to A Whole New World when Jasmin and Aladdin came out. It was sooo cute!
I still didn’t know where I was actually going for the rest of the weekend. I was told before we left for Disney on Ice to pack a bag. After the show, we headed to eat at Taste of Texas. My first time to ever go there, and oh so good! LOVED it! We checked out IKEA because we needed some major toy storage for all the toys we’re having to move around to make room for baby! Found just what we were looking for, and I was completely excited about that. Then finally he told me…we were going to San Antonio. He wouldn’t tell me what we were going to do there, but in my mind I felt pretty sure we were going to be hitting up Sea World!
This was Saturday morning, our actual anniversary day. 6 years!!! Woohoo! He wore his “My Wife Rocks” shirt. I would’ve had my husband one on, but it doesn’t fit as good these days with the expanding belly! He was trying to look all cool and smoothe in the first picture. Then I told him to just give it up and smile!
So Saturday was my day to pick whatever we were going to do. He had plenty of ideas to choose from, it was just my pick. He something specific planned (that I still didn’t know about) for Sunday. Well, it rained into the afternoon on Saturday, so what I had wanted to do was go to the zoo wasn’t quite panning out. Finally it cleared up enough, and we headed to the wildlife park. You get to feed animals out of your car window.
Some of the first animals we see as we get started. The people that sold us the tickets specifically said to throw the food you had for the animals out the window and onto the ground, so they wouldn’t be eating from your hand, for obvious reasons of a possible bite from the animals because they get serious about their food. Once I saw some of these animals and their horns, I had NO problem following that direction. I’m always one that would revert to worst case scenario if I didn’t follow directions, and I always always always think about “When Good Animals Go Bad.” haha Ridiculous maybe, but I don’t play around…
For any ostrich lover out there, I’m sorry but I have to say they really aren’t very pretty animals. When I saw this guy so up close and personal, I wasn’t impressed at all.
So back to the rule following. I’m telling you every car in front of us and behind us was feeding the animals straight out of their hands! Josh couldn’t wait for the zebra section. Here is the car in front of us…hand clearly out the window feeding the zebras.
It’s getting close to our turn…the zebra’s are getting ready to come to us. Josh really wants to feed them out of his hand. But look how they are completely crowding the vehicle in front of us. I wasn’t about to, but Josh wanted to give it a try. I told him to go for it…
I’m telling you, we must have gotten the hostile zebras. They weren’t jackin’ around. Josh didn’t even have enough time to get his hand out the window before the WHOLE zebra head was in our car, and snatched the white bag of food straight out of his lap. You have never in life seen Josh “shoo” something out of “that” area of his lap so fast…he was concerned for his own well being at that point. Me? FREAKING DYING LAUGHING!!!!! Most hilarious moment ever!
Josh decided it best to roll up his window at that point. The zebras weren’t done with us though. They wanted to rub on our side view mirror…
and BITE it!!!! The rest of the zebras were mad they didn’t get their own bag of food!
Giraffes were available to see outside of the vehicle…not just roaming up to your car. They were behind gates, but we still were SO close to them. They would walk right up to you.
That night we went to a restaurant called The Magic Time Machine. We had Daisy Duke, Ace Ventura, and Jack Sparrow serving us. By far, if you know me at all, Ace Ventura was the best! Love that movie, could quote it probably better than this guy, and his get-up was hysterical and perfect!
They ask at the very beginning while you tell them you’re a party of 2, if you’re there celebrating anything special. We said we were here for our 6 year anniversary. And so we got this lovely shot with them singing loudly to us. It was pretty great…and awkward. ;)
This is the storm we got to be a part of on the way back to the hotel. The sky was unreal, and we ended up getting some hail, too.
I finally knew that on Sunday we were going to Sea World!! Hooray! Josh had arranged for a special backstage tour of the dolphin area. We got to tour it, feed the dolphins, pet them, and give them special commands. It was amazing!
I do love some rollercoasters, but Josh had to go it alone this time. I figured that was best for the baby :) See his arm sticking out and waving to me? We would plan it just right. He would text me as soon as he got on to tell me he was coming and that he was on the side closest to me so I could get some pictures.

Their heads almost formed a heart…I thought that was appropriate!
See the hands on the left? They’re mine! I gave this dolphin it’s command! How awesome is that?
We had a fantastic time! They had a photographer there taking pictures for us, and for my souvenir I decided to purchase the CD of them. I’ll show them next!
