September 1, 2010

If all goes well, on this date (as in THIS Wednesday!) I will have TWO children!  Oh my!  I had my 38 week appointment today.  We discussed some of my options since I’ve been dealing with this rash known as PUPPS all over my tummy and down my thighs.  It’s completely non harmful to the baby, but completely, utterly, without a doubt sooooo itchy and irritating to me.  It’s strictly pregnancy induced and should go away within a week of having the baby.  I really, really, really hope it does.

This is my hip, just to give you an idea.  I won’t scare you with pics of my belly.  It ain’t pretty, that’s fo sho!

I’ve been day dreaming of what this sweet baby girl is going to look like.  I was looking at her ultra sound picture, and then I decided to compare it to what Abby’s looked like.  Seriously, they look identical!

Look at their little lips.  Abby’s ultra sound looks like she’s blowing bubbles, and she was further along than baby sister is in hers, but still!  How their mouths look is so neat!  Ok, I know they’re just ultrasounds and lots of babies look “similar” in them, but it’s still fun to compare!

It’s crazy to think she’ll be here so soon.  Most things are done and ready.  At least all the essentials are, and that’s really what’s important!  We’ll be running some errands tomorrow to grab some last minute items.

I’ll show pictures of her room once she’s arrived.  Her name is hanging around the room, and since nobody really knows it—I can’t post those pictures yet :)

Josh is such a fabulous daddy!  A man with 2 girls…he definitely embraces it.  He’s so sweet and will do absolutely anything Abby is asking him to do when they’re playing.  It doesn’t matter if it’s sooo girly!  Dress up and a tea party?  You got it! (I don’t have pictures of the tea party, but they had a marvelous time!  And pay attention to Josh’s shoes.  Abby was adamant he wear them—even if only 1 toe could fit inside, hahaha!!!)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

We had the pleasure of watching our friend, Gracie.  Gracie is 5 and just started kindergarten!!  Abby mimics pretty much everything Gracie does!  They are so cute to watch play.  On this particular day, it was all about dressing up and striking a pose!!

This is Abby’s artistic side :)  She said this is our family.  I feel like we look like sting rays, haha!  But I love how she included all of us.  And if you must know, she said I’m the big black one.  Nice.

And this is her, proud for writing her name!  It took us awhile to get the “y” down, but we finally did!  Yesss!!!

Our Crafts

Abby has loved doing the small little crafts I’ve been finding on the internet.  Here’s a look at some of her work!

We’ve also been working on tracing and writing letters.  We’ve accomplished the letter H, A, and B.  She can write each of these letters without the lines there now.  I’ll have to get some pictures of it.  She prefers lowercase b, uppercase A, and uppercase H when she writes them.  haha.

Baby girl is doing good in my tummy.  I just made a phone call to the hospital to get an appointment for the sibling class they offer.  Hopefully they’ll have one available before the baby actually gets here!  haha, that would kinda be the point after all!  Her room is completely coming together—walls painted, crib in, dresser and hutch in, changing table and rocking chair in, window valence up.  Things left:  put together and hang project above crib (it’s done, it just needs some tweaking), hang all other decorations.  Other things needed to be done:  pack a bag for the hospital!  The end is insight…I can’t wait to just hold her now.  This belly is really just too heavy!  AND tonight while rocking Abby she said, “I want to sit in your lap mommy."  I said, “You are in my lap.”  And she said, “No I want to sit in the middle.”  Abby, you have no idea how badly I’d love for you to be able to sit in the middle, too!  Not too much longer sweet girl!

Feeling SO Loved!

I have some amazing friends!  First, I had my fabulous shower back home in Louisiana, where we completely got spoiled!! (Thanks again, Michelle…it couldn’t have been any more perfect, and I know we’ll have diapers from that diaper cake for the first few months :))  Then last weekend, I had my Houston shower where, if it could even be possible, we got spoiled even MORE!

I love being surrounded by all my family and friends!  This shower in Houston was so different than when I was pregnant with Abby.  For one, I was working when I had Abby, so I had separate showers—a work shower and church/friend shower.  This time, all those folks were combined!  I know more people this go around than I did when I was pregnant with Abby, too—we’ve lived here longer, and now that I’ve stayed at home, I’ve had the opportunity to meet more people.  It was so wonderful to see some faces I hadn’t seen in awhile, to be able to chat, and eat some really fabulous food!!

(Quick side note:  While we were at the shower, my dad and Josh were painting the baby’s room.  I have decided hormonal, pregnant women should not decide color schemes and ideas for a baby’s room, because they will inevitably change their mind or decide they just made a bad decision.  Ok, maybe that’s just me, but it happened.  Abby’s room is green with her bedding having green and pink in it.  The bedding that I chose for this baby also has that green and pink in it, and for whatever psycho reason, I was going to paint this baby’s room green, too.  I originally was going to do pink on the walls, but then I had gotten several pink accents, and I felt I was on pink overload.  We bought this can of green paint (mind you, a green I had seen over an entire room in someone’s house), but after buying the paint, and putting it on the wall…I didn’t like it what.so.ever!!!  It was too dark.  So, I had my meltdown, (and I started saying I was trying to mold this baby too much into how I have Abby) and switched back to pink.  Can I even begin to explain how hard it is to find the RIGHT pink?  And yes, I’m probably a little over the top, but I wanted it to be just perfect, y’know?  My friend, Karen, who is amazing, went to Lowe’s with me to help match the bedding and pick that “just right” pink.  Whew, we did it!  I have issues, I know!)

So…..before I left the house for the shower, I stood in baby girl’s room and took a picture of THE pink on the wall.  Hooray for progress!!!!  Isn’t it a lovely color?

In baby girl’s room, I have some of the birdie theme going on.  My hostesses were clever and used the design from the invitation and put it on a sign and even the plates!!!  How amazing is that??!

Abby is such the helper, of course! IMG_8502

She LOVES taking pictures on the stairs.  Especially when Pop comes because he can set his timer on the camera, and she loves waiting on the “beep, beep, beep” before it flashes.

The Greatest Show on Earth

July 24th weekend, we headed down to Reliant to go to the circus!  It was a complete surprise to Abby.  We’ve found lately it’s far better NOT to tell her what we’re doing so we don’t have to hear her ask 10,000 questions about it 5 days in advance.  Y’know what I mean?  So basically, she woke up that morning, we got her ready, put her in the car, and we didn’t tell her until we started walking up to the building.  That was a good choice on our part because once she knew (just like I expected) the questions started rolling in.  haha  I love my seriously inquisitive little lady!

Before going in

Before getting our seats, we got ourselves there early enough to look at the animals before the show!  (Funny side note:  You had to walk down these steps to get into the area to see the animals.  They had personnel standing at the bottom telling everyone to watch their step.  This lady took one look at me and said, “Oh honey, PLEASE watch your step.  Don’t you go falling down on us.  You are definitely going to get your exercise today!”  haha I thought that was hilarious!)

Remember our fun trip to San Antonio, and Josh’s incident with the zebras?  Well, this picture was necessary.  A thumbs up pose! :)

The elephants getting ready before the show…the elephants laid down while the guy used a blower to get all the hay off them.  It was cute!

With some of the acrobats before the show.  Each pair was speaking a different language when I walked up.  I thought that was interesting.

IMG_4925  IMG_4919

They had this neat section where you could try on some funky outfits.  Abby didn’t want to…the costumes were kinda heavy and such, but Josh and I got in on the fun!  We were able to get a family photo.

Excited for the show.

Ask Abby what her favorite part of the circus was…the puppies.  haha  The kind of animals we can see everyday!  But I’m kinda with her—they were sooo cute, and they do the funniest tricks!

IMG_4941

These guys…they just make me nervous!  Seriously, my palms got all sweaty for them.  I was sure one of them was going to fall!  I have no idea how they can do that—I would be freaking out!!!

And the grand finale!

IMG_4969

We had such a fun day!  That afternoon we went to the pool.  I’m telling you, Abby had a FULL day!  Her new big thrill at the pool is jumping off the side to daddy.  It’s blurry, but she was in motion, obviously.  She’ll do it a billion times over.  I love watching her!
