Weekend Warriors!

This weekend was very eventful (some good, some bad).

The good events are we got Abby's furniture delivered on Friday. We also FINALLY picked a color and painted the nursery on Saturday. While the weekend warriors (Mr. H and I) were painting, Amy and her mom found the matting and frames for the pictures on the wall. Amy's cousin Leslie drew the baby animals that are above Abby's dresser. We wanted them to match the lamp we have and the mobile we registered for. They add the perfect little babiness to the room. Over spring break Sandy (Amy's art teacher friend from school - not our dog) is coming to paint flowers and birds on the wall to match the valance in the second picture. The room is starting to look like a nursery and we like to just sit in it and think about when Abby will actually be in our presence.
The bad events require some back history. 3 years ago when I was an intern with ExxonMobil and living downtown Amy's parents came to visit and their car got towed from my apartment complex. We had to go and get the car from the tow-yard in a not so safe area of town. Saturday night my friend Matt invited me to go to the Rockets game with him. The Spurs were killing the Rockets by 25 points in the 4th quarter so we decided to leave early and beat the traffic to get home early. We were walking to Matt's car, which was parked on the streets of downtown, and as we got close we noticed his car was gone. Apparently HPD called this man to have Matt's car taken to the tow-yard.Then we had to have Amy and her dad come and get us to take us to the tow-yard to get Matt's car. As we are driving to the address that HPD gave Matt things start to look really familiar. Sure enough the same tow-yard Matt's car had been taken to is the same tow-yard from 3 years ago. Same iron gates, same ATM machine, same bulletproof glass protecting the worker who takes your money. So I have now been the to Houston tow-yard in the very unsafe area of town (once in the daylight, once at midnight) and lived to see another day. Praise the LORD!
